Mitsubishi Chemical has developed a high-performance elastomer, iridium-AP, which provides good adhesion to gas barrier resins and polyester resins. It is mainly used to solve the problem of insufficient adhesion of polyester resin and gas barrier resin (polyurethane resin, ethylene-vinyl alcohol resin) in containers with high barrier properties such as PET bottles or decanters in the food packaging field. The higher adhesion can be maintained, and the use of the material does not impair the heat resistance of the polyester resin.
The main features of this elastomer are:
(1) Tg approx. -70°C, good low temperature impact resistance, certain hardness in the temperature range of -30°C to 130°C. Especially in the temperature range of 0°C to 120°C, the hardness of the material is not affected by the temperature, and it is maintained at a fixed value, and the performance is stable during use in various applications.
(2) Excellent adhesion to gas barrier resins at high temperatures of 100°C.
(3) Multi-layer molding can be carried out by filling film forming or T-die forming method, and bonding with different materials.
(4) In addition to polyester resin, the material also has good adhesion properties to PS, ABS, PC, PMMA and other materials.
