1. Set up the file so that the page size of the typesetting file matches the page size of the printed product, and the application software automatically generates the correctly positioned cutting line. Use numbers-now every typesetting software provides two methods to determine the size and position of page elements. One method is the perceptual method of clicking and dragging the mouse, and the other is the objective method of entering numbers from various dialog boxes and control panels. To be sure that the width of a box is exactly one and a half inches, the only correct way is to enter 1.5 "in the width bar, rather than using your eyes or aligning the reference lines and dimensions.
2. Unless the font is very complex or fine-grained, convert any text in the EPS file into a path before you enter the picture into the typesetting software. Use good fonts-many output centers do not want to see TrueType characters, PostSript has become a standard.
TrueType usually has the same word name as the corresponding PostSript word, which can cause conflicts. TrueType must be manually downloaded into the RIP of the imagesetter, which is very time-consuming, please contact the output center in advance. Do not use font commands to produce bold or italic effects. It is best to select the desired font effect directly from the application software font menu. If the font does not have the desired bold or italic effect, and the font command is used, MAC will forge a bold or italic effect for each word, but this is only on the screen. If it is output on the printer, the final printing effect looks as if it has not been used at all. So, what is the effect of using the bottom line? Don't use those fonts that have no effect, but use font commands. If it ’s a font with beautiful serifs or fine strokes
(Bodoni is a good example), and the size of the word is set very small, so do not separate the words. Otherwise, even a slight misalignment on the printing plate will cause overprinting of the most sensitive parts.
3. Scan or acquire images at the final output size and appropriate resolution whenever possible (larger is not necessarily good).
4. Rotate, mirror or invert the image in the software that created the image, not in the typesetting software.
5. Remove extra paths and channels before storing the last picture to simplify the file.
6. If the image is to be separated, CMYK mode is used to define the color. If it is not output in this way, it is defined as a spot color.
7. Store pictures in uncompressed TIFF or EPS format.
8. Print a test color separation file on the laser printer to ensure that you will not have additional color separations or unwanted spot colors.
9. Use QuarkXPress's Collect for Output or Adobe PageMaker's Prepare for Service Bureau plugin to ensure that you know which fonts are included, and send the fonts and your files to the output center.
10. Leave the traps and layouts to the output center to do it, unless you have previously discussed and reached a tacit agreement.
11. When sending a file to the output center, please clearly indicate on the disk which file is needed, and include a proof with the cutting and bleeding signs, preferably printed in the final size to be output (100%). Be sure to understand the resolution (lines per inch), ink and paper used during printing. Then set the corresponding network cable number in the application software. When you produce a negative film, you should explain it to the exporter, otherwise the exporter will give you the positive film as usual.
12. Once you get the proofs from the output center, please check in time to find out what went wrong.
13. Smooth the gradient
