In Japan, packaging materials have been continuously updated to better protect the environment. Despite the general economic downturn, the market for green packaging products is still relatively active.
1. Kanebo Gohsen Co., Ltd. imports raw materials from the United States to produce biodegradable resins. The biodegradable resin has a high melting point and a variety of product forms, and is classified into multifilament, monofilament, and staple fiber, and the raw material for production thereof is polylactic acid extracted from corn starch. Due to its good initial strength properties, it is widely used as an industrial raw material.
Polylactic acid can replace styrofoam to make foam gaskets, foam cushioning materials, with good cushioning and thermal insulation properties. This kind of waste incineration has a low calorific value and has little impact on the environment. Therefore, polylactic acid material can be used as a substitute for styrofoam.
2. Dynic Co., Ltd. develops a biodegradable flexible sheet "Au Pair Corn Sheet" using cornstarch and a fatty polyester as raw materials. The goal is to eventually replace PVC. This material is easy to machine and cut, easy to print, and its thickness can be adjusted according to the requirements. Landfill disposal does not pollute the environment. Because of low calorific value during incineration, no toxic substances such as dioxins are produced, so the harm to the environment is also small.
3. Japan Eco-Management Co., Ltd. sells food packaging boxes made from natural reeds imported from China. The packaging box can replace plastic packaging or Styrofoam trays. When mixed with other garbage incineration, toxic substances such as dioxins cannot be produced due to low calorific value. Because this kind of packaging box has good oil resistance and water resistance, it can be used as baking device for microwave ovens. The waste is treated as landfill and can be decomposed spontaneously within 60-90 days.
4. Nippon Paper Co., Ltd. has developed deep-stamped paper "NPimold Paper" which uses natural fiber as raw material and its stretchability is 5-10 times that of plain paper. This product can suppress the text, pattern and three-dimensional curved surface when molding, similar to the processing of plastic products, and its flange processing can achieve a better seal. This product can be produced using current plastic product equipment and molded according to the design scheme. Because no heating and softening are required before processing, production efficiency and energy saving can be increased. Due to its high safety factor, it can be used as a food packaging box.
5. Challenge Five Ltd. sells biodegradable films and envelopes produced by "Mit Subishi". Such films and envelopes are also produced from polylactic acid extracted from corn starch, which can be offset using soy ink “Naturalisâ€.
6. Tosmac Co., Ltd. sells "e-Sheet" imported from the United States. This product utilizes the electrostatic adsorption generated on the PET surface and can be applied to surfaces such as glass, wood, fabrics, etc., as well as text and graphics. This product can also be reused and recycled many times.
