Viewpoint C: Articles published in electronic form should be incorporated into tenure positions and assessments.
The opinions of university administrators and teachers on whether e-publications should be counted as "real" academics undoubtedly reflect the two sides' important opinions on tenure positions and the process of promotion assessment and academic awards. In this study, 67% of the respondents indicated that they agreed or strongly agreed that the articles published in electronic form should also be included in the tenure of life and assessment process. Dividing this part of the respondents into managers and teachers can find that the two sides hold a high degree of unanimous approval of this view. Only 6% of managers expressed their disagreement with this view, and 23% of teachers hold this view. Teachers responded to this question with absolute certainty. Only 3% said that they did not agree or disagree, but there were 16% of managers who held this opinion. Unfortunately, teachers who expressed disagreement or very disagree with this view did not provide further explanation of their choice. Fortunately, most managers give a comprehensive explanation of their answers. As one manager puts it:
“(Epublished articles in electronic form should be included in the tenure of tenure and assessment process...) Because the e-zine review and manuscript acceptance process is the same standard as the paper magazine implementation.†(Dean SUS, a provost).
When considering whether there are teachers submitting tenured positions and upgrading documents when considering whether there are teachers who submitted special papers in electronic form, the above manager writes:
"Yes, we received those materials, but the final document confirmation also needs to go through the article acceptance and review process." (Dean SUS, a provost)
"Although there are no official regulations or guidelines in the Florida State University system (Florida SUS), there are some informal regulations in different institutions, different colleges, and different project areas. The following answers can be used as evidence:
“When answering those irrelevant questions at the beginning of your e-mail, I said that we have no clear formal regulations on ezines. Our unwritten rules are in the promotion and tenure of tenure, annual assessment, promotion and tenure development report. At that time, this issue was seriously considered and, as far as I know, there is no single promotion or tenured post material that is specifically for e-magazines. Although there is one or two such documents in a teacher’s material recently, the vast majority of applications are (Thesis) is still published in the print media after peer review. In addition, although a young teacher has included a large part of his or her research results published in the e-zine in preparation for tenured materials, I can say that There is no sufficient supporting documentation to ensure that these electronic media can be compared with print media that have undergone peer review." (UCF teacher)
“I believe that regardless of the media, for any of their new publications, the biggest problem for the authors (who took up tenure or upgrades) is how to show people the quality of those magazines (trustworthy)." University President A)
“According to my experience, none of the tenure posts and promotion materials submitted by teachers have been particularly focused on electronic publications. Certainly, some teachers do publish articles on electronic media, but these media are usually screened. High-quality magazines or publishers with high reputation provide support for actual print publications.†(Senior President, SUS, SUS, B)
“Only a few of these latest publications have appeared in these publications. Because these materials account for only a small percentage of the applicant’s total materials, we did not say anything before accepting them.†(Senior President, SUS, Florida, C)
"(In the tenure and assessment process,) what materials should be considered, but some materials should be more weight than other materials, the problem is that the declaration materials should be treated according to their respective weight, I have this question The answer is 'a specific case to deal with'. For example, some magazines are higher than other magazines, and the articles published in these magazines must naturally be weighted.†(Surveyor D, University of Florida, D)
"As far as the dean of our college recently spoke at a tenure and promotion meeting, it seems that his position is not very clear. If there are indeed provisions in this area, then I must have not seen it. This is a clear need." The place is really like this!†(UCF teacher)
Interestingly, the data obtained in this study show that when scholars attempted to publish works in a number of subject areas (such as communication science, computer information systems, etc.), they decided whether or not electronic publications would become a widely recognized publishing field in academia. This will play an important role in helping them in their promotion and tenure. The following opinions from several respondents can be used as evidence:
“New media and interactive teachers have begun to submit their works to electronic academic publications. These media are beginning to be recognized and accepted in the process of annual assessments and promotion and tenure. The application materials include traditional publications and electronics. Editions of academic publications have become commonplace, especially in the area of technology. However, if there is only an electronic version of an academic publication in the application, it will still be considered inadequate." (Surveyor University, Florida, USA
The following are the opinions of those respondents who agreed to conduct in-depth discussions on the articles published in electronic form that should also be included in tenure positions and assessments:
“What needs to be pointed out is that in the tenure of tenure and promotion assessment, it is the magazine/publication/conference essay that determines the value of the work, not the way the work is published. If the magazine is electronic, it is already Trustworthy publications are widely recognized, so it is not very important whether the magazine is published electronically or in print. It is predictable that mainstream magazines will be published in electronic form in the future.†(a UCF teacher)
“Actually, we have no formal regulations for online publications. This type of publication is relatively new and many teachers still lack understanding of the rigor of the review process, which makes them unable to form a consensus on the legitimacy of this academic publishing field. Opinion. However, there is no formal requirement on this issue that also indicates that works published in this media will not be abandoned by people when considering teachers' promotion and academic achievements." (Senior President, SUS, Florida, SUS)
"I have not yet found out who among my colleagues is considering highlighting articles published in electronic media or other academic works when submitting tenure/elevation materials. But I personally think that if they do, these materials will also be accepted. ("a UCF teacher")
Why not? ? ? (UCF teacher)
Point D: Questions about e-publications are more important to teachers seeking tenure than tenured teachers.
School administrators and teachers' responses on this issue appear to be relatively evenly distributed. 44% of the respondents indicated that they disagreed or strongly disagreed, 38% of the respondents indicated that they agreed or strongly agreed, and 18% of the respondents stated that Neither agree nor disagree. However, the quantitative data show that at least 38% of the respondents did not believe that this issue is as important to teachers who have been granted tenure as teachers who have not yet obtained tenure. A quantitative analysis of the data shows that this may be a misunderstanding. Quantitative data analysis suggests that this issue is somewhat ambiguous in its wording. As a teacher seeking tenure, I believe that the issue of electronic publications is important for teachers who have not yet obtained tenure. I think those who disagree with this point of view may feel that this issue is more important to teachers who have been granted tenure. However, after analyzing the respondent's written statement, I found that many respondents who disagreed with this view indicated that the issue was actually as important to the two teachers mentioned above. The following respondents' opinions can be used as evidence:
“This is not the case; for the two, this issue should be equally important.†(Senior President of SUS, A, Florida)
“In today’s era of learning as a mission, all teachers must continue to publish articles whether they are tenure or tenured positions. As for publishing in traditional magazines or e-magazines, this is not the key. "(UCF teacher)
"Very disagree - it should be important for both." (Senior President, SUS, Florida, B)
"Very disagree - it is equally important for both." (a UCF teacher)
However, there are also several respondents who stated that these issues (in relation to electronic publications) may be of more concern to teachers seeking tenure, and that teachers who have obtained tenure positions are worse in this respect. The following are two examples:
“Remember that teachers seeking tenure may have to deal with electronic publications for many years — and many people who have created tenure assignments may not and will not be willing to support them for years.†(UCF teacher)
“This is probably the case for two reasons: first, because it requires (teachers who have not yet obtained tenure) to take more risks; and second, because those teachers who have not yet obtained tenure are more likely to deal with electronic publications. The older generation of colleagues have reservations on this issue." (Senior President, SUS, Florida, B)
