The third part: laying auxiliary lines

You can combine pictures and text to create an ad that is both entertaining and impressive. The help lines will help you align and place objects on the page.

In this tutorial, you will set up guidelines in two ways: specific values ​​and drag and drop guidelines to the drawing page. After setting the guidelines, you need to lock them to a fixed position.

Before starting, first determine the activation guideline. Click View > Guidelines under the View menu to check that the sign before the guideline is selected, that is, whether the guideline is activated.

First, use the alignment option to lay the center auxiliary line

1. If no ruler is displayed, click on the View > Rulers under the View menu.

2. Use the mouse to click inside the horizontal ruler and drag a horizontal guide to any position on the drawing page.

3. Also use the mouse to click inside the vertical ruler and drag a vertical guide to any position within the drawing page.

4. Press Shift and use the selection tool to select both guides. By default, the selected guideline is displayed in red, and unselected is displayed in blue.

5. Select Arrange> Align and distribute> Align and distribute in the Arrange menu. In the "Align to" field, activate the page center option and click Apply to close the dialog box.

Second, use the property line laying auxiliary line

1. According to the method just mentioned, drag a vertical auxiliary line again;

2. Enter the number 5 in the X axis coordinate text box of the object position of the property bar and press Enter to confirm;
3. Drag another horizontal guideline. In the y-axis coordinate text box, enter 5.5 and press Enter to confirm.

Third, use the menu to lay the auxiliary line

1. From the View menu, choose View > Guidelines setup. You can also open the auxiliary line settings by double-clicking on an auxiliary line.

2. In the Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac OS) dialog box, click Levels from the Assortment Lines category list;

3. In the number bar, enter 7.5 and click Add.

4. After typing 3.5, click Add again, and then click OK.

Fourth, lock all the auxiliary lines

1. Click Edit> selec all> Guidelines in the Edit menu.

2. Select Arrange > Lock object from the Arrange menu;

3. Save your file.

Part IV, adding images

The message to be expressed in this advertisement is that the products in this coffee shop are all made from high quality coffee beans. A picture of a cup of coffee on a pile of coffee beans is a good expression of this intention.

Here, you are going to create a rectangular border and put an image into it. Next, use the guides to align the border image. Finally, add a shadow effect to this border.

First, create a border

1. Select the rectangle tool, drag a rectangle outside this background image;

2. When the rectangle is selected, in the Object Size text box, enter the following data and press Enter to confirm:
Width - 5.25,
High - 4;

3. Open the outline hidden window, click the 16 outline (medium thickness);

4. In the CMYK color panel, click on the Red brown color, fill the rectangle with reddish brown, and set its outline to the same color.

5. In the rectangular fillet box on the property bar, enter 20 to confirm.

Second, enter the image

1. Click on File>import in the File menu.

2. Select CorelDRAW installation path;

3. Select the path Corel Graphics 11\Tutorials\Sample files;

4. Double-click the jpg file named coffee_photo;

5. Click under the rectangle you just created.

Third, insert the picture into the border

1. Click Power Cut > Effect inside the container (Effects> PowerClip> Place inside container);

2. Click on the red-brown rectangle.

Fourth, align the border picture

1. Click Power Cut > Effect inside the container (Effects> PowerClp> Place inside container);

2. Click on the background

3. Select Effect> Power Cut> Edit contents (Effects> PowerClip> Edit contents);

4. Click on the "Snap to Guide" icon in front of the "View" menu (View > Snap to Guidelines) to activate the Alignment to Guideline function;

5. Click on the border image, drag it to the right and align it to the 5 inch vertical guide. The bottom edge is aligned to the 5.5 inch horizontal guide. The nodes of the border image will be aligned to the guideline.

6. Open the interactive tool hidden window, select the interactive drop shadow tool (Figure Interactive dro shadow);

7. From the shadow preset list of the property bar (Figure Presets list), select the second Flat bottom right to add a shadow effect to the border image;

8. In the Power Cut menu, select Finish Edit this level (Effects> PowerClip> Finish editing this level).
