With Constar's technology, containers can be made lighter in weight, whether they are glass to plastic bottles or plastic to plastic. Before the packaging was put into production, Constar built a very sophisticated model to predict possible performance deficiencies, thereby avoiding poor packaging design.
In order to achieve the necessary strength of the bottle, Constar used the company's patented design process vertical compensation technology (VCT) to adapt to the initial temperature and cooling process of hot filling without the need for paneling or folding. LiDestri said that this new PET bottle is comparable in hardness to glass bottles, and it also brings a premium brand image to the product.
The application of this technology allows the vacuum board to quietly withdraw. In comparison, it provided a new 45-ounce pasta sauce package that many LiDestri's original side grip bottles had never had before.

The improved bottle has a horizontal rib lap in a circle. It uses a roller provided by Fort Dearborn and a two-piece sealing cap provided by Crown. McAndrew pointed out that another benefit of this bottle is that the company only needs to purchase a little conversion parts and a different labeling machine (provided by Krones) to run new bottles on existing equipment without additional equipment adjustments. .

Independent testing by the Rochester Institute of Technology has shown that this VCT-enabled bottle can be stacked to five pallet load heights in the finished product.
Symmetry and sustainability coexist
The bottle after filling is sealed and placed in a corrugated box on a tray packing machine/shrinkage combination channel in groups of eight, and then bundled with a shrink film.
LiDestri chairman and CEO Giovanni (John) LiDestri said: “The original PET bottle was not working well because of the problem of labeling, and our production line speed was reduced, which led to a drop in production. Our production line is very busy. Accelerating speed is a must, VTC design is very symmetrical, labeling is clean and does not make mistakes, rarely leads to production line downtime, but also reduces the waste caused by improper labeling.The new packaging gives us a more stable and predictable stickers. The process of filling the sauce is carried out on a rotating Elmar system. After filling, the bottle is capped on the rotating equipment provided by Fowler Products, followed by the labeling on the Krones equipment. Afterwards, the bottles will be placed in groups of 8 in a corrugated box on the Krones tray packer/shrinking channel and packaged in a transparent shrink film.
