At the beginning of 1989, our factory explored the edge process of 100kg export calcium carbide barrel and achieved satisfactory results. In February of this year, we further improved the sealing process of our 200-liter steel drum according to the previous export process of calcium carbide barrel crimping, which greatly improved the quality of the steel drum.
The seven-layer crimping process is the key technology for steel drums. It not only has strict requirements on the size of the flange of the barrel and the width of the bottom of the barrel bottom, but also has certain requirements on the size and shape of the seam of the seam welding, the blanking and the bottom cover of the barrel. When the above conditions are correct, the groove shape and size of the forming roller are critical. After our bold attempts, we finally came to the conclusion that the size of the body flange is the key to the seven-layer crimping process. It is directly connected to the bottom of the barrel and the side of the cover after stretching. The size of the flange of the barrel is only closely matched with the width of the bottom of the barrel and the width of the side after the cover is pre-rolled. The size of the 100kg outlet calcium carbide barrel is 14±0.5mm; the width of the bottom of the barrel and the width of the cover is 26±1mm, and the size after pre-rolling is 16+0.5mm (ie, the stretched edge is from the pre-rolled edge) Distance), see Figure 1.
The width of the bottom of the 200-liter steel drum and the width of the cover after stretching is 30±1 mm, and the size after pre-rolling is 18±0.5 mm, as shown in Fig. 2. The barrel body has a flange size of 16±0.5mm.
It can be seen from the above dimensions that when the barrel body and the bottom of the barrel and the cover are pre-rolled and formed into a seal, the gap between the two must not exceed 2-2.5 mm, as shown in Fig. 3. At this time, as long as the forming pinch groove is correct, the profile after winding can reach the true seven layers. Otherwise, it is only six or six and a half.
At present, some manufacturers, in order to achieve the seven-layer crimping, continue to increase the blanking size of the lid and the flange size of the barrel are 21mm, 20mm, 18mm, 17.5mm and so on. As a result, their curling may reach seven layers, but the barrel height will not meet the standard requirements. In addition, as the side width increases, the forming surface of the forming roller is subjected to an increased force and is easily worn. That is to say, the material is wasted, and the service life of the roller is reduced. Sometimes, because there are too many materials on the bead, it also causes problems such as oversize of the bead and large gap of the bead.
