Japan's Yupo Corporation has introduced a UV printable grade, the FPR 200, for commercial printing, paper processing and label printing.
The new product is said to be designed specifically for UV hybrid printing, offset printing and flexo printing.
Paul Mitcham, Yupo's national marketing manager, said that UV printing has become increasingly popular, thanks to its high gloss, smooth, uniform appearance, excellent wear and chemical corrosion resistance.
He added: "The quality of UV printing is unusual. Now with the use of the FPR 200, it is possible to achieve brilliant color reproduction. Durability and extremely smooth surface effects become easier." Previously, Yupo's UV inks required preliminary coating before use. However, a new generation of products is not required, which is said to increase efficiency and reduce the cost of UV printing.
Mitcham said: "Using the new generation of products, printers can increase the productivity of their workshops and print consistent light-emitting products, which are required by graphic designers and brand owners for UV printing products."
Yupo claims that UV prints using the FPR 200 are durable and have no scratches or spots.
The company believes that through the use of UV printing inks, commercial printers have achieved a high-end shiny product appearance, as well as a one-step process production benefit.
In addition to new materials for UV printing, Yupo also produces a variety of synthetic papers for the paper and commercial printing industries.
