The display color is different from the actual proof color

The color management software generally includes a printer's ICC file and a printed ICC file. The ICC file benchmarks for printers used by different color management software are different, so printer ICC files cannot be common across software.

The printed ICC file is obtained by measuring the color table printed by a spectrophotometer (different spectrophotometers use different color tables). All color management software can use the same printed ICC file. However, different printing companies use different PS plates, different papers, different inks, different printing machines, different printing conditions, etc., resulting in certain differences in the printed ICC file information. Therefore, in China, printed ICC files will follow It varies with the printing factory.

Six causes of inconsistent actual production colors

After establishing the conversion relationship between the ICC Profile and the printed ICC Profile through the digital proofing color management software, from the perspective of the design philosophy of the color management software, the matching between the proofing results and the printing results is realized, that is, the proofing color and the printed color are achieved. Consistent. However, in the actual production process, all color consistency requirements cannot be fully satisfied. The reasons are as follows:

1. The color blocks for ICC Profile testing can only have limited color space. The transition color between them can only be simulated by software operation. At the same time, the color management software can only control the color of the device through a limited number of points. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed absolutely that there is no color difference.

2. The spectral characteristics of the proof ink are inconsistent with the spectral characteristics of the printing ink, while the spectrophotometer only reads the chromaticity value under the standard light source, and this value cannot be guaranteed to be consistent under any light source.

3. There is a certain difference in the stability and uniformity of the printing proofs provided for reference, and the sample will have some color drift.

4. The stability of the proofing system itself, the error of the measuring instrument and the environment will affect the consistency of the color.

5. The same sample showed different colors under different lighting conditions, viewing angles, background colors, etc.

6. The viewer's subjective feelings can cause inconsistencies in the sense of color.

Now, color management software and specialized ICC production software packages can basically solve the above problems through different approaches (such as curve adjustment, individual color adjustment), reduce color errors, and meet the different needs of actual production.
