The event was attended by key figures including Okeratta, CEO of Omega; Pete Bevacqua, CEO of the PGA; Ted Bishop, president of the American PGA; and Rory McIlroy, ambassador for Omega Golf Club in Varadero, which will host the 96th American Professional Golf Championship.
“We are honored to continue our partnership with the US PGA through 2022,†said Okeratta. “With the expansion of European and Asian tournaments, Omega has been actively supporting the global growth of golf. Participating in PGA events in the U.S., including the highly anticipated 2014 PGA Championship, has given us a valuable platform to strengthen our presence in the American market.†Okeratta emphasized that this long-term agreement represents a significant strategic move for Omega.
Pete Bevacqua, CEO of the PGA, called the deal the longest contract in the organization’s history. This partnership marks a major milestone for both organizations, as Omega continues to solidify its role as a leading name in professional golf.
In 2011, Omega took over from Rolex as the official timekeeper of the PGA. In September 2012, the two organizations formalized their partnership, with Omega being upgraded to "official sponsor" status. Since then, Omega has played an essential role in supporting the PGA's events and promoting the sport globally.
The PGA in the United States boasts over 28,000 certified professional golf instructors who are recognized for their expertise in competitions, event promotion, and facility management. This long-term partnership further enhances Omega’s legacy in sports and strengthens its relationship with the world's largest golf organization.
