What is MARGA?

Marga is an instrument that monitors the concentration of relevant inorganic substances in aerosols and gases in the ambient atmosphere. The vacuum pump pumps air into the sampling box at a rate of 1 m3/h. A cyclone (PM 10 or PM 2.5 μm) placed in the inlet was used to screen the size of the particulate matter (PM). In the sampling tank, the soluble gas is quantitatively absorbed by a rotary liquid cavier (WRD). Due to the different diffusion rates of the aerosol and gas, the aerosol is captured by the WRD and by a steam jet aerosol collector (SJAC) connected to the WRD. Steam injection produces a supersaturated state that causes the water vapor condensation process to occur.

The condensed aerosol is separated from the gas stream in a cyclone. The flow from the WRD and SJAC was collected by a 25 ml burette in the analysis chamber, degassed and mixed with the internal standard, and quantitatively injected into the cation chromatography and anion chromatography.
