More and more connected devices and sensors can be controlled by intelligent algorithms. People can directly control smart homes through voice commands. Intelligent speakers realize interactive platforms for controlling smart home devices, such as opening curtains, turning lights off, setting the temperature of the refrigerator. Let the water heater heat up in advance and so on. For such a convenience to life, the shipment of smart speakers will be higher and higher, which is undoubtedly a trend. At the same time, in addition to video entertainment products, most other categories of shipments will have a double-digit compound annual growth rate during the same period.

Through five years of historical data and long-term observation of the market, it is expected that video entertainment equipment (including smart TVs, digital media adapters and other IP-connected video equipment) will occupy the value of the entire smart home market during the 2017-2022 forecast period. Three-quarters, and the average selling price (ASP) of TV sets will be the highest, with a compound annual growth rate of 8.3% per unit shipment.

By 2022, it is expected that home monitoring/safety will be maintained in the second category by unit shipments of connected door locks, cameras, humidity sensors, doorbells, etc.; product value of interconnected lighting products such as Philips, General Electric, IKEA, etc. It will exceed $3.5 billion; thermostats, such as those provided by Nest or Ecobee, will have a compound annual growth rate of 20.8% per unit shipment.

Other smart home products, such as connecting equipment, sprinkler systems and other small equipment, are expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 18.2% in 2017-2022. Many analog objects, such as traditional appliances, have long replacement cycles, and the overall attractiveness of smart homes is expected to be limited in the future.

Judging from the results of the current research, the development prospects of smart homes are very broad. The biggest reason is that consumers have requirements for quality of life and all aspects. Smart homes are red in the field of artificial intelligence, but they are still slow to land. Slow long journey, IDC tracker collects market survey results within half a year, is updated every six months, and is updated quarterly, and will continue to pay attention to the smart home industry.
