How to Protect High Value Electricity Goods In A Building Still Under Construction – The Packaging Doctor

How to Safeguard High-Value Electrical Equipment in an Unfinished Building – The Packaging Doctor

By Carl Board • Monday 21st December 2015

With the unpredictable weather we've been experiencing in the UK, it's hard to know what kind of day you'll wake up to. This can be especially challenging for construction projects, where weather conditions can have a major impact on progress and materials.

In the construction industry, there are often a variety of high-value goods that need to be protected during the building process. It's common for items to be placed inside a structure before windows, doors, or certain walls are fully installed. That’s why it's crucial to ensure these valuable products are completely shielded from the elements—rain, dust, and moisture.

Today, I'm sharing a real-life example of how I helped a customer find the right packaging solution for their electrical equipment. Here's what happened:

Dear Doctor,

I hope you can help me. We're working on a building that's still under construction and not yet watertight. There are no windows or doors, and some walls are still being built. We have several large electrical units that need to be installed, and due to their high value, we need to make sure they’re not damaged.

We’re looking for a product that will protect them from rain, dust, and moisture. Do you have any recommendations?

Thank you, Andy

Hi Andy,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand how important it is to protect high-value items during the construction phase, especially when the building isn’t fully enclosed yet.

One of the best solutions I’d recommend is our Polythene Shrink Film. This heavy-duty shrink film is perfect for wrapping irregularly shaped items, offering both stability and protection. To use it effectively, you’ll need our Pro Shrink Pallet Heat Shrink Gun. Once heated, the film shrinks tightly around the item, creating a secure and durable barrier against moisture, dust, and damage.

The film is made from virgin polyethylene, ensuring even and consistent shrinking when heat is applied. It’s also puncture-resistant, making it ideal for protecting sensitive electrical equipment.

Additionally, I'd suggest using our Gas Cylinder Trolley, which is a compact and practical addition to your shrink-wrapping system. With heavy-duty rubber wheels, it allows you to easily transport your propane gas bottle and shrink gun throughout the site, improving efficiency and safety.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out.

Best wishes, The Packaging Doctor
