*PE material selection
PET is a crystalline material. Compared to amorphous materials (such as PC), crystalline materials are aligned when stretched, and the strength increases accordingly. In the injection blow process, the PET material is biaxially stretched, its two-dimensional strength is enhanced, and at the same time, the wall thickness of the finished product is reduced, thus saving the materials. Compared with other crystalline materials, PET material is more clear and transparent, perspective is not inferior to glass.
* Processing methods of PET bottles Prior to the popularity of PET bottles, plastic bottles were mainly extruded. After the plastic is heated and the screw drive friction is melted, it is extruded from the die into a cylindrical shape. The combined mode injects air from the neck to inflate the cylinder, cooling it against the mold wall, and removing the bottle after opening the mold.
In the injection blow molding process, the preform is injected with an injection molding machine. The preform is softened before or after the preform is not cooled. The preform is then stretched longitudinally and blown (laterally stretched) to form biaxial stretching. The use of this method of processing not only results in a smooth bottleneck, but also strengthens the bottle, reduces the wall thickness, and saves material.
According to different processing techniques, injection blow process can be divided into one-step method and two-step method. The process of completing the injection, drawing, and blowing operations in one machine is called a one-step process. One-step method is to pull and blow when the preform is cooled to about 110°C after injection molding. The advantage is that it saves electricity and does not go through the manual and reduces pollution. The two-step method is to separate the two steps of drawing and pulling and to perform the two operations on the two machines. In the first step, the preform is injected using an injection molding machine. In the second step, the room temperature preform is reheated and then blown into a bottle. This step is performed on another “reheat, pull blower”.
*PET material dry
Plastics such as PET, PC, nylon, and ABS absorb water from the air because they absorb water. If the absorbed moisture is not discharged before the injection molding process, the plastic will be hydrolyzed, causing the product to have a poor strength, a poor appearance, and becoming a waste product. Therefore, an appropriate drying treatment must be performed prior to injection molding. The drier the PET, the more transparent the preform. The simplest drying method is to use a hopper dryer.
* Injection molding process
# The number of preform mold cavity was selected. The popular household water dispenser used a 3-gallon bottle. The weight of the preform was 300g-520g. The number of mould cavities can be selected from 2 cavities, 4 cavities, 6 cavities, 8 cavities, 12 cavities, 16 cavities, 24 cavities, 32 cavities, 48 ​​cavities, 60 cavities, 72 cavities, 96 cavities and 144 cavities. In order to increase production efficiency, the maximum number of cavities should be used with the four-column injection molding machine space, formwork space and injection weight.
The queen in the preform is a preform of a five-gallon dispenser bottle weighing 650g-750g. The disposable five-gallon bottle weighs 400g. Therefore, these molds are generally a cavity and adopt a cold runner design.
# Preform mold multi-cavity preform molds do not use cold runner design, but the use of hot plate design. Every two chambers share one heating zone and one thermocouple, but the bottom of the preform will have a nozzle that does not exceed 5mm in length. After a period of shutdown, the flow channel may be blocked. If the needle valve hot runner design can solve this problem, each cavity has an independent heating and probe temperature, the preform does not leave water at the mouth, when the injection valve does not close the flow channel, so the sprue will not be blocked, but this This kind of design costs a lot.
During the injection molding of injection molding cycle thick-walled preforms, the cooling time dominates the cycle time, followed by a large amount of plastic plastification time. Under ice water cooling conditions, the cooling time and wall thickness have the following relationship:

Cooling time includes injection time and dwell time. During the dwell time, the injection molding machine has almost no action. In this case, if the parallel action of the injection molding machine can be used, the PET material can be plasticized with lengthy dwell time, which saves energy and shortens the cycle time.
The plasticizing time runs through the entire injection cycle, so increasing the plasticizing ability is also an effective way to shorten the cycle time. Barrier type (also known as double-thread) screw is a kind of screw design to improve plasticizing ability. In addition, under the condition that the screw design is not changed, the larger the screw diameter, the deeper the groove of the metering section and the stronger the plasticizing ability.
