When I embarked on the framing design of the Environmental Art New Vision Series, the book's artistic ideas were quite scrutiny. This is a set of books based on the new heights and perspectives of the 21st century, reflecting the development trends, design concepts and latest achievements of the world's environmental art design field. Therefore, the artistic creativity of the cover design of the series must be inclusive of the humanistic spirit of Chinese culture, and it is full of modern design atmosphere. It is both traditional and modern. It is the fusion of Chinese and Western cultures, and also the development and embodiment of the national spirit. Chinese and Western integration, design language innovation, this is the foundation of the design and creation of "Environmental Art New Vision Series".

The binding design of the “Environmental Art New Vision Series” was completed in June 2002. The art form of the folk paper-cut hollow was used as the design language in order to achieve a multi-level three-dimensional effect; the use of virtual reality, the formation of the odd-looking composition The framework, in the 1/5th upward direction of the book style, reveals part of the contents of the book, creating a strong visual impact. The design is intended to demonstrate the high-quality living space and comfortable and beautiful living environment created in the environment art design in today's world and modern China. It indicates that environmental art will change our lives and create a better future.

Artistic conception is a painful and complicated process. It requires the designer's dedication and framing design is no exception. When he started designing ideas, he felt that he should have a breakthrough in his intentional composition, the design language, and the use of new materials. However, the inherent habit of thinking is “difficult to shift”, hindering my design thinking, designing solutions one by one to self-deny, or being too mediocre in the intentional composition, or the formal language has no characteristics, or lack of the overall consciousness of the series... In this way, how to design with real creativity? I first considered that I must break through the composition of the cover, and I must not use the conventional composition model. I think that Mr. Pan Tianshou, the master of traditional Chinese painting, often uses the composition method of “submitting things with reality and seeing the odds” when he is carrying out Chinese painting ideas. Make his style a distinct personality. So a bold design idea jumped into the mind - a large area of ​​empty space, one-fifth of the upswing. This is precisely the use of the Chinese painting of the knowing and keeping the black, the odd way of composing. It appears to be both novel and unique, highlighting a strong form of beauty.

Next in the design language, I abandoned the general forms of expression, such as collage, breaking, mutation, desalination, reorganization, etc., in the plane composition, and used the art form of folk paper-cutting to connect and transfer the virtual office and virtual office. This creates a sense of hierarchy and three-dimensionality in the plane space, and allows readers to develop rich associations between similarities and dissimilarities to achieve an unexpected effect. This may be the charm of paper-cut art.

Modern books tend to express the beauty of the texture of the binding material itself. At the same time, unexpected effects of the production process can fully display the charm of the binding art. A successful cover design must also have a good color scheme, and all elements must be harmonious and unity, and serve as a backdrop to deepen the theme. In terms of the use of color, I chose to use a large area of ​​light beige as the main theme. The title of the book was selected with a relatively small area of ​​contrasting color for the substrate, or red and black, or blue and black, or green and black, or purple and black, so that The prominent eye-catching, reaching the finishing touch of artistic effect. The color of the cover of this series of books is not used much, but with appropriate, seemingly plain and honest, it gives people a calm and elegant, novel and simple beauty.

Thanks to the efforts of all parties, the "Environmental Art New Vision Series" has finally received social recognition. In the case of a weak book market, sales in the first edition were only half a year old. The cover design also won a silver award in the 2002 Hubei Provincial Frame Design Competition.

Art is endless.
