The substrate used for the surface decoration of the wood-based panel is plywood, particle board, fiberboard, and the like. Since the decorative material is a thin layer, whether it is thin wood, paper or resin, many defects of the substrate, such as uneven surface, cracks, etc., are reflected on the decorative surface, causing defects in the decorative surface. Some people in production believe that the surface of the artificial board should be decorated, the quality of the substrate can be worse, and there is a layer of decorative material outside. This view is wrong. Therefore, in order to ensure the quality and effect of the decoration, the substrate should be strictly selected and certain requirements are placed on the substrate.

1. All kinds of substrates must be qualified before decoration and have certain strength and water resistance.

2. The structure of the substrate is symmetrical, the moisture content in the plate is uniform, and it is controlled within the range of 8-10% to increase the stability of the substrate size.

3. The surface of the substrate is smooth and flat, with uniform texture and color. There are no defects such as knots, cracks and holes on the surface of the plywood. The surface of the particleboard and medium density fiberboard is not rough, damaged or missing. The particle board also requires the surface to be composed of fine shavings. It is best to have a three-layer structure or a gradient structural board.

4. The thickness of the substrate should be uniform. Before the decoration treatment, sanding should be performed to adjust the thickness.

5. The substrate is required to be flat and not warped, otherwise it will affect the mechanization, continuous production, or the quality of the finish.
