The race took place simultaneously across multiple time zones, with some regions starting early in the morning and others later in the evening. In Yilan, Taiwan, the event kicked off at 7:00 AM local time. Runners from all over the world joined in, creating a global celebration of movement and generosity.
At 10:59 AM, the men’s champion, Su Zhibin, was caught by the Terminator after completing 57.62 kilometers in 3 hours and 59 minutes. Meanwhile, the women’s champion, Jian Peiyu, managed to stay ahead for 37.45 kilometers before being caught after 2 hours and 52 minutes. Both winners will have the opportunity to compete in next year’s global event, continuing their journey in this exciting race.
Jian Peiyu, who ran her first Wings for Life event, described the experience as both fun and challenging. She found it exhilarating to be chased by the car, especially when she was just 10 meters behind. Even though she was eventually caught, she felt proud to be part of something so meaningful. “Running with top athletes from around the world in Yilan was an amazing experience,†she said.
Another participant, who started at a steady pace of 4 minutes and 5 seconds per kilometer, pulled ahead quickly before slowing down near the 52-kilometer mark. He described the excitement of the Terminator trying to catch up, feeling a sense of relief when the race finally ended. This year, he ran alongside his friend Li Zhiqun, the men’s champion from last year. “It’s a memorable and worthwhile experience,†he said. “The rules are fun, the atmosphere is joyful, and running for charity adds a special meaning.â€
