Participants are chased by a "Catcher Car" throughout the race, creating an exciting and challenging atmosphere. The race kicked off simultaneously across multiple time zones, with some regions starting in the early morning and others in the evening. In Yilan, Taiwan, runners began their journey at 7:00 AM local time. The race covered a total distance of 57.62 kilometers, with the men’s champion, Su Zhibin, finishing in 3 hours and 59 minutes. Meanwhile, women’s champion Jian Peiyu completed the course in 2 hours and 52 minutes, being caught by the Terminator at 37.45 kilometers. Both champions will have the opportunity to compete in next year’s global run, continuing their journey in the ultimate challenge.
For many, the thrill of being chased by the car was a highlight. Peiyu, who participated for the first time, found it exhilarating. As the car closed in, she pushed herself to the limit, even sprinting when only 10 meters behind. Though eventually caught, she felt proud to be part of such a meaningful event. “Running with top athletes from around the world is an amazing experience,†she said. “It’s not just a race—it’s a way to make a difference.â€
Another participant, who started at a steady pace of 4 minutes and 05 seconds per kilometer, pulled ahead early but slowed down near the 52-kilometer mark. He described the chase as thrilling, saying that seeing the Terminator trying to catch him brought a sense of liberation. “It’s fun, fast, and full of energy,†he added. His friend, Li Zhiqun, who ran alongside last year’s men’s champion, called the experience unforgettable. “The atmosphere is joyful, and the night run feels smooth and free. It’s a great way to contribute to a cause you believe in.â€
