Correct calculation method of actual magnification of digital microscope

First of all, you should understand the target size of CCD or COMS:

Commonly used CCD or COMS have 5 sizes of 1, 2/3, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 inch.

Generally, conventional digital microscopes are implemented using a third-order plus CCD or CMOS. If you have purchased a traditional two-eye stereo, biological, or gold equivalent microscope, how should it be implemented? The purchased products need to save costs to realize digital. At the same time, they can directly use the computer screen to observe the products, and also better protect our eyes. This will be achieved through some transformation. We should know that the size of the target surface of the CCD or COMS is closely related to the magnification, and its size will directly affect the magnification of the digital microscope.

Then let's take a look at the target surface size.

The size of the target surface in the usual sense is the diagonal size of the CCD or COMS. Our commonly used CCD or COMS have

1, 2/3, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 inches, the actual size is as follows:

1 inch-the size of the target surface is 12.7mm wide × 9.6mm high, and the diagonal length is 16mm;

2/3 inches—the target size is 8.8mm wide × 6.6mm high, and the diagonal is 11mm long;

1/2 inch—the target size is 6.4mm wide × 4.8mm high, and the diagonal is 8mm long;

1/3 inch—the target size is 4.8mm wide × 3.6mm high, and the diagonal is 6mm;

1/4 inch-the target size is 3.2mm wide × 2.4mm high, and the diagonal is 4mm long.

Now that we know the size of the CCD or CMOS target surface, it is easy to know the specific magnification of the digital microscope we have.

We usually calculate according to the formula of digital magnification, the specific formula is as follows:

Magnification of the objective lens × (diagonal line of the computer screen / size of the target surface of ccd or cmos) = total magnification.

for example:

10 × objective lens plus 1/3 inch CCD or CMOS digital microscope total magnification = objective lens 10 times × (15 inches × 25.4 / target size 6mm) = 635 times
